What to Expect When Arranging a Funeral with Bromleys Independent Funeral Services
Arranging a funeral is never something you plan for emotionally, even if you are prepared practically. At Bromleys Independent Funeral Services, our role is to remove stress, not add to it. That starts with being honest, clear and upfront about how things work, especially around pricing, payments and your rights.
Here’s a straightforward explanation of what you can expect when working with us.
Transparent Pricing, No Surprises
When you receive a funeral estimate from us, it’s based on the information available at the time and includes all known costs. Some third-party fees such as crematorium, cemetery or clergy charges may not be fully confirmed immediately, but we’ll always give you our best estimate and keep you informed.
If your plans change, we’ll explain any impact on cost clearly before moving forward. No hidden fees. No unexpected extras.
Payment Terms Explained Simply
To secure arrangements, we usually require a deposit of £1,500 (this may vary depending on the type of funeral).
After the funeral takes place, you’ll receive a full breakdown of costs within three days. The remaining balance is due within 20 days unless agreed otherwise in writing.
Late payments may incur interest, but our approach is always reasonable and human. If something isn’t right, talk to us we’d rather solve it with you than escalate it.
Respecting Your Data and Privacy
We handle personal data with care and respect, in line with GDPR regulations. Your information is only used to arrange and administer the funeral and may be shared with relevant third parties such as crematoria, clergy or medical professionals where required.
Once all matters are complete and payments settled, you have the right to request that your data is erased. Simply contact us in writing and we’ll take care of it.
What Happens If Plans Change
If you need to cancel or amend arrangements, charges will depend on how close the change is to the funeral date:
-
Within 2 days: 100% of fees
-
Within 1 week: 80% of fees
-
Within 2 weeks: 50% of fees
Any third-party costs already paid or committed to will still apply. We’ll always explain this clearly and sensitively.
Our Standards of Care
We’re members of SAIF and follow their Codes of Practice, which means professionalism, dignity and respect are not optional they’re the baseline.
If you ever feel something isn’t right, we want to know. Speak to our senior team and we’ll do everything we can to resolve it. If needed, you can also contact the independent funeral complaints service (SAIF), free of charge.
Your Legal Rights
You may be entitled to a 14-day cooling-off period under consumer regulations. If you request services to begin immediately and later cancel, you’ll only be charged for the work already carried out nothing more.
English law applies to all agreements, and nothing in our terms limits our responsibility where death or personal injury is concerned.

We know you’re trusting us with something deeply personal. That’s not taken lightly.
- Our commitment is simple:
- Clear pricing.
